AHLTA is a services-wide medical and dental information management system designed to supplement the functionality of the Composite Health Care System (CHCS). [1] It allows providers to document clinical notes, place orders, select coding (ICD/CPT), and provides secure online access to all Military Health System (MHS) beneficiaries’ records. [1]
Global Implementation of AHLTA
AHLTA is implemented in the U.S. military’s 481 medical treatment facilities (MTFs), including those deployed abroad, ultimately supporting 9.2 million MHS beneficiaries. [1]

AHLTA was the first system to allow for the central storage of standardized EHR data, enabling worldwide sharing of patient information. [1]
